The Ghana Police Service has opened an inquiry into a viral TikTok video in which a person is heard threatening President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.
In a statement, the Police stated that the video, which has been extensively disseminated on social media, contains words that are regarded threatening to the President’s and his spouse’s life.
So far, two people—Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu—have been arrested and are in police custody, collaborating with the continuing investigation.
Authorities say they are seeking to locate and apprehend others suspected of involvement in the video’s filming and distribution.
“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in Police custody assisting the ongoing investigation while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation.”
The Police Department also reassured the public of their commitment to protecting the safety and security of the President, the First Lady, and all citizens, encouraging them to desist from making or disseminating statements that could incite violence or endanger public order.
