Tottenham star Son runs to police after being blackmailed with fake pregnancy

Tottenham Hotspur player Son Heung-min reportedly went to police in South Korea after a man and a woman allegedly attempted to blackmail him.

According to local media, the woman claimed to be pregnant with Son’s child and sought a big sum of money in exchange for silence.

Seoul police acknowledged that they had arrested a lady in her twenties on suspicion of extortion, as well as a male for attempted extortion.

According to the Sun, the two approached Son and asked for several hundred million Korean won. The 32-year-old footballer, who has never married and has no children, contacted police last week to submit an official complaint.

Tottenham Hotspur’s South Korean striker Son Heung-Min has been in scintillating form recently, winning the Premier League Player of the Month in April and becoming the first player to win the honour twice last season.

According to Son’s legal representatives, the woman informed him that she had become pregnant in June of last year. Authorities are currently investigating the claims and circumstances surrounding the alleged blackmail attempt.

Son on settling down
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min is in excellent form, but will fly out to the Asian Cup in January with South Korea.
Despite his status as a global football icon, Son has kept his personal life very secret. He has previously been linked to Korean pop singers Bang Min-ah and Yoo So-young, but has stated unequivocally that he will not settle down until he quits from professional sports.

Back in 2019, he stated his reasons for remaining unmarried throughout his career, saying:

My father says this, and I agree with him. When you married, family, wife, and children will come first, followed by football. I want to ensure that while I play at the highest level, football remains number one. You don’t know how long you can play at the highest level. When you retire, even when you are 33 or 34, you can still enjoy a long life with your family.

Investigations into the case are still underway.
