This week marks the beginning of the 2022 World Cup, so let’s take a look at the top 10 goal-scorers from Africa in the history of the world’s most prestigious soccer event.

Only five teams from Africa have qualified to compete in each of the World Cups that have been held thus far.
Players from across the continent, fully aware of the commitment required to take part in the competition, used to give their all for the many countries they represented.

Ghana Black Stars Asamoah Gyan, a former striker for Sunderland, has scored six goals in three different World Cups and is now at the top of this list of the top scorers.
Gyan scored one goal at the World Cup in 2006 in Germany and three goals during the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. He scored against Serbia, Australia, and the United States.

The former captain of the Black Stars scored twice in 2010—once against Germany and once against Portugal, all of which took place in South Africa.

The Cameroonian and African icon Roger Milla, who has five goals to his record, is the one who comes the closest to him in our Top 10 list.

Samuel Eto’o, the current President of the Cameroon Football Association, and Papa Bouba Diop, a former star for Senegal, each scored three goals in World Cup competition.

The top 10 African goal scorers in the history of the World Cup are as follows:

1: Asamoah Gyan: 6 (Ghana)

2: Roger Milla: 5 (Cameroon)

3: Samuel Eto’o: 3 (Cameroon)
