If nothing goes wrong, the Komenda Sugar Works will be completed before the end of this year.
This is the most recent promise made by President Akufo-Addo, who toured the project in the Central Region on Saturday. Due to the non-operation of the work, Komenda residents have often complained about their loss of livelihood.
When members of the Komenda Old Council contacted him at the Day of Remembrance House in the Gregorian calendar month of 2022, the President proclaimed that the sugar works would become operational in that month.
However, more than four months have passed, and the facility is still not in use. As he traveled through the region today, the President reassured them once more that the works would be completed by the end of the year.
The constructions, which were commissioned by former President John Mahama prior to the 2016 election, have been kept under lock and key primarily because their management claims there aren’t enough raw materials to sustain the works.
