The Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year award has been highly anticipated since its introduction in 1999.
For the past 26 years, the conversations and debates around this category have been overwhelming because it is the highest category in the award program – the bragging rights that come with it are limitless.
It is the accolade that every Ghanaian musician desires. The debate over who will win Artiste of the Year this year has not gone unnoticed, with fans already arguing on social media.
The nominees, Stonebwoy, King Promise, Black Sherif, King Paluta, Team Eternity, Kweku Smoke, and Joe Mettle, are all looking forward to the awards night, with everyone expecting to win the coveted accolade.
Joe Mettle astonished music fans in 2017 by becoming the first Ghanaian gospel musician to win the top accolade.
Black Sherif’s capture of the award was predicted given that the skilled artist was a powerhouse in the music industry last year, releasing songs and gaining global recognition.
