Some students at Christian Methodist Senior High School, (Chrimeto), in New-Aplaku, in the Greater Accra Region, have allegedly stoned teachers.

The teachers claimed they were attacked since they forbade pupils from cheating on the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

One can see the enraged pupils pursuing the teachers and throwing stones and sachet water on them in an amateur video that 3News has on file. Walter Yesutor Adanunyo, one of the attacked instructors, was seen on the video running for his precious life.

Stories about the event in Ghana After Monday’s integrated science paper, Mr. Walter Yesutor Adanunyo explained tonight with Alfred Ocansey that he was in the school with his Head of Department and one of the students returned to let them know about a mob at the gate who said they would have to harm him, Walter because he was too rigorous in the exam room.

“We therefore phoned the headmaster when the girl arrived to inform us. He then also called the police patrol team, and subsequently, they arrived to evacuate those pupils from the compound, from the school. Since all the papers were carried out of the compound following them. Then we finished the business of the day. Mr. Adanunyo related this while speaking via a Zoom interview on Ghana Tonight.

Mr. Adanunyo remarked, “We were two service personnel and three permanent teachers. I so advised them to attempt and go since the focus is there. Not knowing, a few of the pupils followed alternative paths. They then came upon us midway. That was then they began, “Hey, I am strict in the exam room. Nobody should copy; I want none of it. Why would I forbid them from looking around the exam room for answers? – the irate students asked him.

He remembered that four of the students reportedly were arrested by the police, but he could not verify whether the same students approached him.

“I’m not sure whether the folks I mentioned in my police station statement were the ones I mentioned here. I don’t believe. But I entered their names. I may provide their names to you off-air should you wish me to do so. Finally he said.

Similar events happened a few years ago at WASSCE when Eastern Bright Senior High School pupils displayed similar behavior.
