Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has revealed that, all previous members of the government’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on Unlawful Mining (IMCIM) are the targets of ongoing investigations into their suspected participation in unlawful mining activities, also known as galamsey.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is currently looking into a report that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, the former chairman of the disbanded IMCIM, wrote that named some significant figures in the Akufo-Addo administration.

Special Prosecutor to Summon these People soon

The OSP recently detained Prof. Frimpong-Boateng in order to question him about alleged corruption and crimes, including corruption connected to the operations of the disbanded committee.

The Special Prosecutor said in a Joy News interview that every person identified in the report will be viewed as a suspect.

Mr. Agyebeng declared, “There are no saints in the eyes of the office.”

He argued that the fight would be faulty if he approached it from the perspective that some members of society are immune to corruption.

“We will fail in our efforts to combat corruption if we adopt the mentality that some members of society have gained sainthood. Our mission is to combat corruption and the problems that are related to it. Everyone who was mentioned in the report will appear in front of us, regardless of how many people there were.

The public’s willingness to fight corruption and its willingness to give the institutions charged with doing so free rein were both questioned by the Special Prosecutor.

“Are we prepared to combat corruption, and if so, are we able to give the institutions created to do so the freedom to do so?”

“Can we not consecrate people as saints and hand them to the Special Prosecutor that, as far as we are concerned, this is the list of saints that have been consecrated and that these people cannot be questioned and cannot be taken into consideration as persons of interest to you under any circumstances?”
