Richmond Botwe, a 22-year-old security guard, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted robbery in Nmai Dzorn.

The security guard pleaded guilty in Adenta Circuit Court after attempting to rob a hairstylist of her iPhone 14 cell phone, worth GHS15,000.

The incident happened on April 5, 2025, in Nmai Dzorn, Greater Accra Region.

Botwe was placed into lawful custody after his plea, and his sentencing was deferred.

The trial judge passed punishment, noting that Botwe was a youthful offender who had not wasted the court’s time.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Eric Abban, stated that the complainant, Ms. Tosin Adesokan, a Nigerian hairstylist living at Ashalley Botwe School Junction, was attacked while returning home.

Botwe, who works for a security agency in Adjiriganor, allegedly left his duty post at Caterpillar Junction about 0400 hours, armed with a kitchen knife concealed in his trousers.
