Sarkodie, a hero of Ghanaian rap, collaborated with reggae legends Bob Marley and The Wailers to create a new version of Bob Marley’s famous song “Stir It Up,” which was released to ring in the new year. The Caribbean and Africa come together to create one of the most recognizable melodies in the world, giving us a sense of nostalgia and romance in the process.

This song was produced by MOG, and it features the trademark guitar strums and relaxing bounce that we all know and love, along with the legendary flow of Sarkodie. The musical “Stir It Up” will bring together people of different eras, continents, and more!

Bob Marley is widely regarded as one of the most iconic characters in contemporary music, and the magnitude of his impact cannot be overstated. The social activism and politically conscious lyrics of the Jamaican singer, musician, and composer are an inspiration, and they are merged with elements of lovers’ rock, ska, and rocksteady. Bob Marley was recognized as a pivotal figure in the development of reggae music and was honored with a posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

In December of 1999, his album “Exodus,” which was released in 1977, was awarded the title of “Album of the Century” by Time Magazine, and his song “One Love” was selected by the BBC as “Song of the Millennium.”

Sarkodie is widely regarded as one of the most successful African rappers of all time, with a career that has spanned close to 20 years. At the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards, he became the first artist to receive the award for “Best International Flow.” Additionally, he was awarded the title of “Artiste of the Decade” at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

This tune, like all of Sarkodie’s others, features his distinctive tempo, cadence, and wit throughout the whole song.

Sarkodie remarked, in reference to this historic collaboration with Bob Marley, “What a way to kick start this year! Without a doubt, the pinnacle of my professional and personal lives…Keeping this specific endeavor a secret has been a HUGE ordeal, but I suppose it will turn out for the best in the end when the moment is just right.

I want to give a big thank you to the crew at Island Records, my crew, and the Marley family for their help in getting me on this incredible album with the legendary Bob Marley. What a gift it is to be able to record my voice right next to the legendary singer’s original vocals…

I will explain how the entire process was carried out, but for now, I want you to get ready to appreciate the new version of Bob Marley’s “Stir It Up,” which was created by MOG.

The dynamic relationship that exists between Jamaica and Ghana is shown in the official music video for the song titled “Stir It Up.” These pictures, which were shot in Ghana, truly investigate themes of individuality, solidarity, and community. Sarkodie served as the creative director for the project.
