Saina Nehwal also created history by being the first Indian sportsperson to win the singles event at two consecutive Commonwealth Games (in 2010 and 2018).

Saina Nehwal, who is considered one of India’s most accomplished badminton players, is highly recognized for having helped the game gain popularity across the nation. In 2016, she received India’s third-highest civilian decoration, the Padma Bhushan, in her honor.

The two highest awards an athlete in the nation may get are the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and the Arjuna Award, both of which she had previously received.
