Rodaline Imoru Ayarna, a public interest advocate, has justified the government’s decision to terminate the employment of those employed after the December 7 elections.
She believes the development is justified considering Ghana’s economic status and government history.
Speaking to Newsfile, she noted that such last-minute employment by an outgoing government raises severe concerns, especially given that the administration had eight years to generate jobs but failed to do so.
“As a Ghanaian, I would argue that those employed are Ghanaians, but given the circumstances and the historical pattern of government transitions, I don’t believe it’s unreasonable. Why would a government with eight years to act suddenly flood agencies with new hires right before leaving office? she said on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Mrs. Ayarna went on to say that some of the appointments were not made according to proper process, citing concerns voiced by government spokespersons regarding hiring irregularities.
“According to a government spokeswoman, some of the hires did not submit application letters, did not follow the proper processes, and had backdated job documents. “These are all criminal acts, which you cannot defend,” she stated.
Recognizing the displeasure of impacted employees, she asked them to reapply through the proper means rather than insisting on holding positions that may not have been legitimately obtained.
