Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has spoken publicly for the first time since receiving urgent medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was reportedly taken to UGMC on Saturday, March 29, after falling ill following work on Friday, March 28.

A statement from the Presidency confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang received swift medical attention. Although the specific illness was not disclosed, the statement assured the public that she was stable and had been advised to seek further medical care abroad as a precaution.

Her hospitalization raised widespread concern, prompting an outpouring of prayers and well wishes from Ghanaians, including political leaders, religious figures, and the general public.

Amid these concerns, the Vice President acknowledged the support in her Eid Mubarak message to the Muslim community, expressing gratitude for the kindness and well wishes.

“I also want to thank everyone for their thoughtful messages and support this weekend,” she said.

Though brief, her message reassured the public of her appreciation for their prayers and encouragement.
