Following the massive proliferation of bogus claims on social media, the Ghana Police Service has issued a public warning about a phony recruitment exercise.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi issued a statement calling the claims untrue and urging the public to dismiss them.
“The Ghana Police Service has been alerted to rumours spreading on various social media platforms about an ongoing recruitment effort. “The Police Administration wishes to state that this information is false categorically,” the statement read.
The message stressed that any real recruitment exercise will be published through the Service’s proper communication channels.
“The Service has not announced a new recruitment campaign. Any recruitment exercise would be properly marketed via the Service’s official communication channels, which include the official website, verified social media platforms, and national publications,” it added.
As a result, the police cautioned the public not to engage with persons or groups offering recruitment possibilities in exchange for money.
Urging the public to report suspicious activity, the Service guaranteed that investigations into these frauds had commenced, with the goal of apprehending and punishing the perpetrators.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that it is actively investigating these fraudulent activities, and persons found to be involved in such illegal schemes will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” according to the statement.
