The Ghana Police Service’s investigations, which included extensive medical testing, showed that there was no basis for any of the claims that genitals were missing. In spite of this, these untrue assertions have had serious consequences.
Six people were arrested in Kasoa, in the Central Region; two in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region; and one in Nkawkaw, in the Eastern Region. The arrests took place across multiple areas. Five of the people who were detained have been hauled before the judge. Two have been given bail, while three have been placed under police remand. The rest of the people are presently on police inquiry bail and are expected to face legal proceedings soon.
