Parliament approves Haruna Iddrisu, Kwame Governs Agbodza and Eric Opoku as Ministers

Parliament has approved President John Mahama’s second batch of ministerial nominees after comprehensive vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The Appointments Committee unanimously recommended the appointment of Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South; Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu; and Eric Opoku, MP for Asunafo South, to cabinet positions.

On Tuesday, January 21, the nominations were considered in Parliament, presided over by the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako.

Following thorough deliberations, both the Majority and Minority caucuses recognized the three nominees’ competency and proven track records, confirming their abilities to effectively manage their respective ministries.

The Second Deputy Speaker then confirmed the appointments.

Haruna Iddrisu was confirmed as Minister of Education, Kwame Governs Agbodza as Minister of Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister of Food and Agriculture.

This second round of ministerial approvals supplements the first group of ministers already approved by Parliament.

The clearance is another critical step forward in President Mahama’s efforts to assemble a qualified and effective government team to solve serious national issues.
