Parliament Approves 2023 Budget

After contentious debate on both sides of the House, the budget statement and economic policy for the 2023 fiscal year have been adopted by Parliament.

This comes only a little over 24 hours after the Minority Caucus voiced their discontent with several aspects of the budget that was presented on November 24, 2022.

In addition to expressing concern over the VAT, the Caucus voiced concerns regarding the review of the electronic transfer levy (E-Levy).

They also spoke out against other policies, such as the reorganization of debt, how bonds were handled, how money was distributed, and economic policy initiatives.

The financing of the national cathedral was met with vehement opposition in the midst of calls for the government to cut the number of appointments and restructure certain ministries in order to bring spending under control.
