It has been a difficult week for Black Stars manager Otto Addo, who has faced criticism after Ghana failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
The Black Stars’ setback adds to a difficult five years for the team, which has exited the AFCON group stage in 2022 and 2024.
Addressing the press ahead of Ghana’s final AFCON qualifier against Niger, Otto Addo reacted to his critics, downplaying the significance of some of their statements about him.
“Most people will judge me based on the results, which were negative. But I have friends and mentors.
“I trained with Sammer, Klopp, and Edin Terzic, who was Dortmund’s head coach.
“They are also critical of some things, but this has much more value if I speak to Jurgen Klopp and he says this or that than somebody from anywhere saying bla bla this is bad,” replies Otto Addo.
Otto Addo’s Black Stars will face Niger in their final AFCON qualifier on Monday, hoping to record what will be their first and only win during the qualifying campaign.
