NPP to hold presidential primaries on January 31, 2026

Justin Frimpong Koduah, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that the party’s presidential primaries will be held on January 31, 2026.

This follows the National Council’s approval of a proposal by the Constitution Review Committee.

However, Justin Frimpong Koduah stated that the time of the presidential primaries will not be subject to approval by the delegates conference because the National Council has already exercised its authority to approve them.

“Our primaries are slated for January 31, 2026. That is the date we will have our presidential primaries. A preparatory group has been formed in anticipation of a proposal or motion to modify our constitution,” he explained.

Meanwhile, a nine-member committee directed by former Bekwai MP Joseph Osei Owusu has been appointed to plan the July 2025 national delegates conference, which would consider additional recommendations for amendments to the party’s constitution.
