Flagbearer hopeful Ken Ohene Agyapong has formed an Anti-Election Rigging Squad ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries slated for January 31, 2026.

The move follows growing concerns among his supporters about possible electoral malpractice during the contest.

Several opinion polls have consistently ranked Mr Agyapong as the frontrunner, raising the stakes as the primaries draw closer. The establishment of the squad is therefore seen as a safeguard initiative aimed at protecting the integrity of the process and ensuring that the will of delegates is respected.

In recent weeks, some prophets and religious leaders have predicted a resounding victory for Mr Agyapong if the elections are conducted fairly. Others, however, have cautioned about potential attempts to manipulate the outcome—concerns that have fuelled the creation of the special response team.

Joojo Rocky Obeng, Director of Elections for Team Ken, confirmed the development in a video posted on his social media platforms. He explained that measures are being put in place to monitor the process closely and respond swiftly to any signs of irregularity.

“We are fully prepared to prevent any attempt at rigging these elections,” Mr Obeng stated, stressing that the squad would work strictly within the confines of the law.

The decision has sparked widespread discussion within party circles, with many viewing it as a proactive step to safeguard transparency in what is expected to be a fiercely contested primary.

Mr Agyapong’s camp maintains that the squad is not intended to intimidate but rather to guarantee a free and fair process, thereby upholding the credibility of both the primaries and the wider democratic process within the NPP.
