The Ministry of the Interior has stated that Friday, November 8, will not be a public holiday.
According to the Ministry, the 2024 National Farmers’ Day will be commemorated on that date, but it will not be classified as a public holiday.
This was stated in a press release signed and released by Henry Quartey, Minister of the Interior, on November 5.
The announcement also stated that Friday, December 6, 2024, which is officially Farmers’ Day, will remain a statutory public holiday that will be observed countrywide.
This comes after the Ministry of Food and Agriculture declared that National Farmers’ Day will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024.
According to a press statement issued by the Ministry, President Akufo-Addo has announced the date of the 40th annual commemoration.
According to the statement, the national farmers’ event would take place in the Greater Accra Region, with no regional celebrations this year.
However, the Ministry stated that each region is allowed to submit winners for ten regional award categories.
“These awardees must go to Accra on Friday, November 8, 2024, to be honored at the Awards Night Ceremony, which begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge.
“At this ceremony, Regional Ministers will confer awards on the honourees from their respective regions,” according to the release.
