Blessed Godsbrain Smart, better known by his stage as Captain Smart, has launched a harsh attack on the government of President John Dramani Mahama.

During his eight months in power, none of the selected ministers had generated tangible accomplishments or significant outcomes, according to the vocal broadcaster and host of Onua Maakye, who voiced his profound displeasure with the government’s performance.

The seasoned journalist, who is renowned for his candid analysis of national matters, stressed that, aside from President Mahama, none of the current administration has left behind any noteworthy legacy or carried out any initiatives that could be cited as actual advancements for the country.

Captain Smart directly challenged government officials during his broadcast, saying,

Tell me you’re doing something, and come sit here. JB merely stared at my face when I told him anything yesterday.

I informed them that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is currently sitting at home after eight years. Out of all the ministries, which one has contributed something significant for Ghanaians to talk about? Not one at all.

Following their resounding victory in the general elections of 2024, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by John Dramani Mahama, formally came into power on January 7, 2025.

The eight-year term of the New Patriotic Party under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came to an end with the transition.

President Mahama made a number of important pledges to the Ghanaian people during the election campaign, chief among them being pledges to cut back on government red tape and establish a cutting-edge 24-hour economic strategy.

This economic model was promoted as a revolutionary strategy intended to boost productivity, encourage the creation of jobs, and quicken economic growth in a number of industries.

But the first few months of the administration have been fraught with difficulties and disappointments.

The most significant loss to the administration was the terrible death of two cabinet ministers, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala, the Minister of Science, and Dr. Edward Boamah, the Minister of Defence, in a helicopter crash.

In addition to leaving two crucial ministries without a leader, this disastrous event has made President Mahama’s governance agenda and policy implementation schedule far more difficult to carry out.

The tragedy has clouded the administration’s early days, which may have an impact on the coordination and momentum required to fulfil campaign pledges on schedule.

The public’s perception of the government’s efficacy and capacity to carry out its electoral mandate has grown as a result of this development and the seeming lack of ministerial accomplishments that Captain Smart brought to light.
