For the 2025–2026 academic year, the Ministry of Health has announced a 50% fee reduction for first-year students enrolled in nursing and allied health training institutions.

This action is a component of the government’s new “No-Fee-Stress” policy, which is a nationwide effort to lessen the financial strain on college students and their families.

About half of the authorised fees for all qualified students starting their training this academic year have been covered by the government, according to a press release issued by the Ministry and signed by Deputy Director and Ministry spokesperson Tony Goodman.

“This cut satisfies His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama of the Republic of Ghana’s pledge to offer financial support to parents and students who are committed to pursuing their academic and career goals,” the statement said.

Additionally, the Ministry instructed all nursing and allied health training institutions to adhere exactly to the specified items and approved rates as conveyed. Institutions are not allowed to demand payment for things covered by the policy or charge more than what has been authorised.

The Ministry cautioned that principals who disregard this instruction “do so at their own peril.”

In accordance with the new policy, heads of institutions have been directed to start the procedures required for student admission for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The Ministry underlined its dedication to protecting students’ welfare and guaranteeing fair access to health training courses.
