NDC React to IGP’s Leaked Audio
The National Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Foyoo Gbande, disclosed this information during an interview that aired on the Ekosii Sen programme on Asempa FM on Wednesday.
Fear and confusion have spread throughout the nation as a result of a rumoured plot to assassinate the IGP. The audio allegedly contains a voice that is said to be that of a police commissioner having a conversation with a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is the party that is now in power.
It is stated that they are discussing the current Inspector General of Police and how he will undermine the NPP in the election of 2024 should he remain in office.
Their acts have been roundly criticised, and numerous people are demanding that the government open an investigation into the incident.
On the other hand, Mr. Gbande referred to the conversation on the leaked recording as a “joke,” claiming that it would not frighten them.
“To have police officers in this country preparing violence and everybody being quiet about it? We are not pastors; we are just peace-loving citizens, but we will not stand idly by while elements inside the police force attempt to subvert the will of the people.
The National Deputy General Secretary of the NDC stated that the party does not care who President Nana Akufo-Addo chooses to fill the position of Inspector General of Police since they do not require security to win elections.
Mr. Gbande stated that as an immediate action, they will do profiles on all of the district Police Commanders around the country in order to ferret out the politically exposed personnel and prevent them from functioning as police officers.
