Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, a former member of parliament who represented the constituency of Asawase, has accused the leadership of the National Democratic Congress of plotting to remove him from his seat in the Asawase constituency during the party’s primaries on Saturday. Mubarak served as the Minority Chief Whip.
Muntaka claims that there have been discussions going on among the leadership of the party for some time now over how to remove him from his position in Parliament.
A few days after the party’s primaries, Mohammed Muntaka gave an interview to the media, during which he stated that the recent change in the leadership of the Minority in Parliament was part of a larger plan.
“I can tell you that it was part of the plan to get me out of there,” she said. No one who is involved in politics can deny that this was part of the plan to remove me from office.

Masawudu Mubarick presented a formidable challenge to Muntaka in the battle for the parliamentary seat in the Asawase constituency.
In spite of this, he was declared the winner after receiving 1,063 of the total valid votes cast, leaving his primary opponent, Masawudu Mubarick, in second place with 735 votes.
