National Security operatives in the Ashanti Region have taken over the Akom Axel Load Station in the Afigya Kwabre North District due to alleged financial embezzlement.
According to Alhaji Abubakar Nje, Deputy Regional Security Coordinator, they obtained information that certain people were working at the station to benefit themselves without reporting government revenue.

He described cases in which trucks were not weighed and individuals pocketed the money.
Alhaji Nje told Adom News that “we have taken over the Axel Load Station in Akom till further notice to ensure sanity and protect government benefits.”
He stated that nine autos were apprehended on June 4, yet only one car was documented under his supervision on June 9.
Kwame Yallo, NDC Organiser for Afigya Kwabre North, expressed concern that certain party members were profiting themselves at the load station by refusing to weigh vehicles just six months into the new regime.

He claimed that when he protested, he was offered a bribe of “one car per week” to remain silent.
Kwame Yallo urged the government and highway authorities to interfere, claiming that the government was losing major money while a few individuals profited themselves.
He further stated that the large vehicles were ruining roads while a few people pocketed the weighing fees.
