The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has stated that the nomination of his grandson, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not suggest that Manhyia Palace advocates for that particular political party.
According to him, the nomination does not necessarily imply that he will cast his vote for the New Patriotic Party on December 7.
He made these statements on Friday, when the Vice Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku, paid a courtesy call on him.
The NPP has selected my grandson, NAPO, as their running mate. Although he is my grandson, this does not imply that this palace has voted for either the NPP or the NDC. “The New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are both welcome to use this palace,” he was quoted as saying.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang conveyed his appreciation to the Asantehene for the wonderful reception that he received.
