The DOVVSU Department of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command has detained Mary Tawiah, a 24-year-old nursing mother, for allegedly attempting to poison her child after her boyfriend’s adultery.
Kobby Nbelenbele, the boyfriend, is also in detention and aiding with the inquiry.
The terrible incident took place at the Kasoa Old Market in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East municipality.
Adom News reports that Mary and Kobby live in Teshie, but he allegedly abandoned her to be with another woman in Kasoa.
Mary apparently encountered Kobby and his claimed mistress in the Kasoa Old Market, resulting in a heated altercation.
Felix Dnkwa, an eyewitness, described how, during the fight, Mary threatened to poison their child and pulled out a chemical from her bag, attempting to feed it to the boy.
However, her attempt was foiled by bystanders, who promptly detained her and gave her over to police.
