Patrick Yaw Boamah, Chairman of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, has encouraged Ghanaians to prepare for a 30% to 40% hike in statutory fees in the mid-year budget, which will be presented by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson on Thursday, July 24.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 23, the Okaikwei Central MP announced that the new fee regulations are set to be introduced in Parliament as part of measures to increase government revenue.

Ghanaians should expect a 30% to 40% hike in fees, according to the Minister of Finance’s proposed new fee regulations, which will be put before Parliament tomorrow. “The proposal is currently before the Subsidiary Legislation Committee for preliminary consideration,” he stated.

The statement comes ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review. The review will examine the government’s budgetary performance in the first half of the year and provide new recommendations for sustaining the country’s recovery under the current IMF-supported programme.

The proposed fee adjustment is part of a broader package of actions being explored by the government to increase revenue mobilisation, improve expenditure efficiency, and maintain macroeconomic stability.

The government expects the mid-year review to concentrate on tax performance, public spending, debt servicing commitments, and potential modifications to existing levies.
