Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer on trial for the brutal murder of his claimed girlfriend, 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu, startled onlookers in court on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, by engaging in an intense prayer session during proceedings.
Ajayi appeared in court in connection with the terrible occurrence on January 12 in New Karshi, Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area.
Salome, who was doing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Nicon Insurance in Abuja, was allegedly slain and dismembered by Ajayi after visiting him at his home in the Papalana region.
Investigations indicated that Ajayi was apprehended while attempting to dispose of Salome’s remains. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the murder with no remorse and cited infidelity as his excuse.
Witnesses in the courtroom recalled a tense atmosphere as Ajayi knelt and prayed fervently, appearing to seek divine intervention during the trial.
His actions prompted popular outcry, particularly given the awful nature of the murder and his previous lack of remorse.
The trial is still underway, and the court has yet to issue a ruling. Meanwhile, Salome’s family continues to demand justice for the young corps member who was sadly killed in such a horrible manner.
