Former President John Mahama has promised the people of Ghana that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will provide the nation with quality leadership.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is currently in power, has taxed Ghanaian businesses excessively, depriving the nation of its “enviable position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for investment,” according to the NDC’s candidate for president in 2024.
Mr. Mahama voiced concern over the high rate of youth unemployment in the nation in his address honouring Ghanaian youth on International Youth Day on Saturday, August 12.
Mahama promises Heaven-on-Earth for Ghanaians
He believes that throughout the history of the country, youngsters have been important agents of development and the power behind constructive change.
He outlined the need to equip young people with skills, create jobs, and assist them as they develop their nation and Africa as a whole in order to assure a brighter future.
Many young people are feeling despondent and having their sense of patriotism tested to the breaking point due to rising unemployment, rising living expenses, and a lack of prospects.
John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), declared, “I am committed to turning this situation around urgently by laying the foundation for nurturing a generation of skilled youth.”
“A new NDC administration would make urgent efforts to provide our children with the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills required for a sustainable future. In order to increase employment, we will implement a 24-hour economy with incentives and tax reductions for manufacturing.
The former president continued by saying that his administration would increase the potential of agriculture and agribusiness while also supplying essential IT and social infrastructure to promote economic growth.
The NDC flagbearer said that the organization’s policy priorities “would empower our youth with the “knowledge, talents, values, and attitudes needed to live in, develop, and promote a sustainable and resource-efficient society—the crucial Green Skills our youth need to advance a sustainable future.
Asserting that he has the people of Ghana’s best interests at heart, Mr. Mahama said that by banding together, “we will build the Ghana we want and put smiles back on the faces of our young people.”
