President John Mahama has directed Dr. Dominic Ayine, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, to promptly launch investigations into the corruption cases detailed in the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee’s report.
The directive was given on Monday, when the President received the report, which included 2,417 complaints, for further submission to Dr. Ayine.
North Tongu MP and ORAL Chairman Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa led the committee that presented the findings in Jubilee House.
President Mahama praised the committee, describing the report as a watershed moment in the country’s anti-corruption efforts.
“I have passed over the report to the A-G, who will begin immediately investigating the alleged cases. The report will be carefully reviewed, and if prosecution is warranted, it will be carried out without fear or favor.
“Every pesewa recovered from the operation will be reinvested in national development, emphasizing that Ghana is no longer a ground for corruption,” according to him.
Mahama also stated that the study is a big step toward reclaiming looted state assets.
“The findings of this report make for sober reading, revealing the scope of financial leakages that have cost our country dearly—resources that should have been invested in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social development.”
“But they also give hope that through collective efforts, we can reclaim what is ours and deter future acts of economic sabotage,” according to him.
