Charles Owusu has given his response to former President John Mahama’s remark that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will fight any attempts by the Electoral Commission to cheat in the next election, which will take place in 2024.

Election 2024: Has Mahama Seen His Impending Defeat? – Charles Owusu Queries

“It is in this light that we in the NDC wish to make clear that we will resist and prevent any sinister plot by the EC to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 elections even before the first ballot is cast through the needless and unapproved insistence of the Ghana Card as the only means of registration,” John Mahama said at an event hosted by the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The EC continues to be unyielding and gives the impression that it is intent on making it challenging for some segments of our community to have their names included on the voter register.

Charles Owusu, who is running as an independent candidate in the 2024 election for the Nkoranza North constituency seat, claimed that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) should have learned their lesson and ceased assaulting the EC after they won the Assin North by-election. Owusu is running for the Nkoranza North seat in 2024.

“If you’re serious about what you’re doing, the by-election in Assin North should convince the NDC that the EC cannot influence the results in favour of anyone. If you come in last in an election, you only have yourself to blame.

“I don’t know if Mahama has seen that he’ll be losing the 2024 election, so he’s just saying this so that he can blame the EC when he loses, and that won’t help anyone,” he remarked. “I don’t know if Mahama has seen that he’ll be losing the election in 2024.”

In the meantime, he is certain that he will triumph “hands down” in the election for the seat representing Nkoranza North.
