President John Mahama has instructed all ministers in his cabinet to reveal their assets to combat corruption.
The President underlined the need for transparency and accountability in administration while swearing in the first six chosen ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 22.
“I expect all of you to begin the process of declaring your assets,” he directed, adding that the Chief of Staff will shortly establish a deadline for all qualified appointees to submit their asset declaration forms to the Auditor-General.
President Mahama emphasized that this action is vital in avoiding corruption and ensuring that public personnel maintain the highest levels of integrity.
He stressed that it could not be “business as usual” under his government and asked ministers to practice fairness and transparency in all transactions.
He also guaranteed the people that anti-corruption mechanisms would be reinforced to investigate and prosecute any violations of the law by appointments.
The President restated his commitment to working with the newly sworn-in ministers, promising to give them with the resources they need to properly serve Ghanaians while preserving good governance principles.
