John Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has challenged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to boldly declare corruption-related actions and scandals that have tarnished the reigning government he plans to punish when elected on December 7.
The former President stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer lacks political will and cannot probe and punish party members.
Mr Mahama said this while restating strategies to fight against corruption and reclaim all pilfered state assets from political appointees in the current government.
He underlined how the fight against corruption would reach politically exposed individuals and all serving public officials through the “Operation-Recover-All-Loot” (ORAL).
Mr. Mahama said he thinks public officeholders should be answerable, but the current government lacks the bravery to do so.
Visiting Sissala East as part of his Upper West campaign, he urged Ghanaians to vote out the NPP for appropriate responsibility.
Ghana is slipping, he said, hence the NDC has to win to help the nation to be back on course.
Re-electing the NPP, he continued, is like praising thievery and poor leadership.
“Desperate to get Bawumia to replace Akufo-Addo in the president, they want him to cover their backs. Bawumia cannot punish any of the top NPP members, including Ken Ofori-Atta or Akufo-Addo. Only the NDC can look at every one of those who pilfers our funds.
“So for Ghanaians to have accountability, the NPP must leave power that is why the NDC has launched the operation recover all the loot if you have stolen Ghanaians’ money, you can be sure when John Mahama is elected president, we will come after you and retrieve all the monies for Ghana,” he said.
