Liverpool Agree To Sign Darwin Núñez From Benfica €100m
The public pursuit of the 22-year-old by the Reds has progressed quickly this week, with interest, the estimated money breakdown, and news of personal terms being negotiated all emerging within days.
The Benfica striker has risen quickly through the ranks, and Jurgen Klopp showed his admiration for him when the two teams clashed in the Champions League, with his star only rising further with a move to Anfield.
And, according to rumors from Uruguay, it’s getting closer by the hour, with Nunez reportedly leaving the Uruguay camp to complete his move.
Liverpool and Benfica Agreement on Darwin Núñez
Liverpool have agreed to buy Darwin Nez from Benfica on a verbal basis and are drafting the paperwork to complete the transaction. They will pay a guaranteed €80 million (£68.3 million) for the striker, plus up to another €20 million in add-ons, potentially making the Uruguayan their record acquisition.
Virgil van Dijk’s £75 million fee is the highest paid by Liverpool, who have acted boldly over Nez despite Manchester United’s interest.
The Uruguayan’s entrance is expected to coincide with Sadio Mane’s exit in the summer, but Bayern Munich must first make an offer that Liverpool does not laugh at, as they did in the last two efforts to sign their world-class No. 10.
