Kwadwo Nkansah, better known by his stage name Lil Win, has been arrested by the Manhyia Divisional Police Command for his role in an accident that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old.
Hours before his film “A Country Called Ghana” opened at the KNUST theater on May 25, a deadly occurrence took place in Amakom, Kumasi.
As soon as the actor was released from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday morning, he was taken into custody. It’s likely that court procedures will be followed.
Shortly after the accident at Amakom in Kumasi on Saturday, May 25, Richard Nana Yaw Ampomah reportedly passed away while undergoing treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Nana Yaw is reported to have occupied the front passenger seat of his father’s vehicle when it collided with LilWin’s branded Mercedes benz. Witnesses say the actor was driving at a top speed when the crash occurred.
Lil Win has since been receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye hospital until his arrest on Monday morning. His manager and personal guard have still been hospitalised and receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the three-year-old boy has been buried by the bereaved family while his father, Jacob Ampomah who sustained a fractured leg injury is still visiting the hospital for treatment.
Lil Win in a statement released last week refuted allegations by the family of the deceased of neglecting the accident victims and attending to his movie premiere same day after the incident had occurred. Despite the injury sustained, the actor appeared at the premiere of his movie on the night the accident occurred.
Lil Win arrested over this incident
Lil win argued that he was only responding to the other members of his crew who had sustained injuries.
He later apologised to the bereaved family for his “insensitive comment” and postponed his movie premiere in Sunyani to mourn with the family.
