During the pre-season game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns, LeBron James and Bronny James made NBA history by being the first father-son pair to play together on the same team.

On his 20th birthday, Bronny took the court during the second quarter against the Suns a 118- 114 loss.

A father and son had never before simultaneously participated in any kind of NBA game, including pre-season.

LeBron wrote on X following the game, “Wow that was surreal.”

Speaking to reporters, he said: ““We came out of a timeout and we kind of stood next to each other. I kind of looked at him.

“It felt as though I were in something like The Matrix. Simply said, it did not feel real. Still, having those times was fantastic.

On the evening, LeBron scored 19 points with four assists and five rebounds. During his 13-minute stretch, Bronny went scoreless, ending with two rebounds and four turnovers.

In June, Bronny signed a second-round draft pick from the University of Southern California into the Lakers.

LeBron, 39, is a four-time NBA champion and the all-time point scorer in the league.

The experienced player is starting his 22nd NBA season.

Once Bronny arrived at the Lakers, he signed a fresh two-year contract with the team.

Starting on October 22, the 2024–25 NBA season sees the Lakers in play against the Minnesota Timberwolves following the Boston Celtics championship against the New York Knicks.
