Father of late Ketasco NSMQ star reveal son’s cause of death

The father of the late Ketasco NSMQ star James Lutterodt, who passed away on Monday, has spoken out about the tireless efforts he made to try to preserve his son’s life. James Lutterodt passed away on Monday.

James passed away after a brief battle with illness on Monday morning in a specialized hospital in Tema, according to information provided by his family.

His father, Philip Dogbeda Lutterodt, claims that he became aware that something was amiss with his son in April 2023, when the latter returned home from a holiday.

Philip gave an interview to Citi News, which was an exclusive, in which he remarked, “As a father, it has not been easy. When he returned from his vacation in April [2023], I became aware that he had an issue that needed attention. I immediately began caring to his health concerns, and we did a large number of tests to establish the reason of his illness until he died away early yesterday morning.

Mr. Lutterodt also indicated that James has disclosed certain information on incidences that took place at the University of Ghana; however, they have chosen to suppress the specifics for the time being as a result of their decision.

Despite the tragedy that befell them, the family offered their thanks to God for everything.

Boaz Ayitah, a close family friend, told Citi News that James had intentions to study abroad after obtaining admission offers from numerous international universities prior to his sad loss. Ayitah said that James had received the admission offers before his untimely death.

In 2021, James Lutterodt was a member of the Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) team that competed in the NSMQ. His participation on the team earned him national and international recognition. Many people were impressed by their remarkable performance because it presented a challenge to the winners who had won in the past.

The family vehemently denied the veracity of the videos that were circulating on social media, which claimed to feature James vomiting blood, and stated that nothing of the sort had ever taken place.

Instead, they stated that “he experienced difficulty breathing” to Citi News.

Since the news of his passing became public, there has been an outpouring of sorrow and tributes on social media. Many of these posts commemorate James’s incredible accomplishments throughout the NSMQ during the past two years.

As soon as they heard the terrible news, the organisers of the National Science and Maths Quiz issued a statement expressing their profound grief over the death of the former Ketasco student.
