Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko, and Head coach Seydou Zerbo have mutually agreed to part ways.
The Burkinabe trainer is under a lot of pressure as a result of the Porcupine Warriors’ inconsistent performance and poor performance.
At the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, Kotoko was defeated by Medeama SC by a score of 2-0. The game was part of Matchday 23 of the competition.
Prior to the beginning of the current 2022–23 Ghana Premier League season, Zerbo was selected to serve as the club’s head coach and given the position.
He signed a two-year contract and took over for Prosper Nartey Ogum.
Abdulai Gazale, who is the coach of the youth team, has been given the responsibility of running the club in the interim.
“Management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club and Coach Seydou Zerbo have this morning mutually agreed to part ways,” a club statement said on Monday.
“Coach Abdul Gazale has been tasked to take charge as Acting Head Coach.”
As a result of the decision, he is the fourth coach to lose his job during Nana Yaw Amponsah’s tenure.
In the past three years, he has become the fourth player from the Kumasi-based club to pass away, joining Maxwell Konadu, Johnson Smith, and Prosper Narteh Ogum on the list of casualties.
Asante Kotoko’s matchday 24 games will take place at the El-Wak Stadium, which is owned and operated by Legon Cities.
The Porcupine Warriors have amassed 34 points, putting them in seventh place on the league’s overall log.
