Jane Opoku-Agyemang in good health – Gov’t assures

Opoku-Agyemang

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in good health, according to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications.

After she was airlifted to the UK for medical treatment, the public’s concern over her status grew, leading to this update.

In a previous statement on April 24, President John Mahama told the public that the vice president was “recuperating well and in high spirits.”

“I would like to welcome everyone with Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s pleasantries. I informed her yesterday that since this is a program that she is so passionate about, we would miss her at this event.

On May 5, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasised on Joy FM that she is still doing well at the UK’s medical facilities.

He asserted that “I’m sure they [doctors] will give the green light as and when they think that she is ok to come.”

He went on, “I am positive that she is doing well.”

It was said that on Friday, March 28, 2025, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang became suddenly unwell. The following day, he sought medical assistance at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

According to the government’s statement, medical professionals suggested that the vice president pursue additional treatment overseas as a preventative measure to aid in her complete recuperation.

On April 7, 2025, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang prioritised her health and well-being by taking a three-week medical leave in response to medical advise.
