Husband beats wife to death over Ramadan food

The Bauchi State Police Command in Nigeria has arrested a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for reportedly killing his wife, Wasila Abdullahi, by beating her with a cane.

According to Nigerian news source Daily Trust, the event took place near Government Girls College in Bauchi’s Fadamam Mada area.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, revealed:

On March 1, 2025, at around 11:30 p.m., the Bauchi State Police Command was informed to an alleged culpable homicide near Government Girls College in the Fadamam Mada area of Bauchi.

This unfortunate event resulted from a misunderstanding between Alh Nuru Isah, 50, a businessman at Central Market Bauchi, and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24, over the handling of food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.

Following the incident, Abdullahi fainted after being struck with the cane and was taken to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a full investigation into the event, and the culprit is being detained.

Auwal Musa Muhammad, Commissioner of Police, has assured the people that securing justice in this issue is a top priority for the command.
