Groom dies after bride’s ex-lover gives explosive-filled ‘home theatre system’ as wedding gift

A home theatre music system that was given as a gift at a wedding reception in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh turned out to be a bomb that killed two people and injured five more.

It was said that the incident took place earlier this week in the village of Chamari, within the Kabirdham district.

The Chhattisgarh Police have asserted that they have solved the crime after it was discovered that the music system in question had explosives, which detonated when the device was connected to an electrical outlet.

According to the authorities, the victim has been identified as Hemendra Meravi, who recently tied the knot with Lalita Marwari, who is 22 years old. On the 2nd of April, the wedding ceremony was held in the village of Chamari.

The police reported that one day after the event, members of the family started removing the wrapping paper from the gifts they had been given.

In accordance with the ASP According to the officer in charge of the investigation, Manisha Thakur, “as soon as Meravi tried to connect the music system to an electronic socket and switched it on, an explosion occurred, which ultimately resulted in him being killed on the spot.”

According to reports in the media, Thakur disclosed that the suspect, who has been identified as Sarju Markam, was taken into custody on Tuesday. According to the information available, Markam lives in the Balaghat area of Madhya Pradesh.

“During the questioning, the accused confessed to having planted explosives in the music system and gifting it to the newlyweds,” the investigating officer also claimed. We have not yet determined where he obtained the explosives or any of the other data regarding this case.

There have been certain claims that have stated that Markam used to be Lalita’s lover. During the course of the investigation, the police stated that it was discovered that Meravi’s wife maintained consistent communication with Markam.

The police said that Meravi’s brother had passed away after receiving treatment for his injuries at the hospital. Other members of the same family who were hurt were brought to a hospital in the area where they are currently receiving care.

According to the ambulance service provider, the condition of individuals who were hurt in the incident is believed to be stable.
