‘Ghanaians should let Mahama be president for 8 more years’ – Market woman (Video)

A Ghanaian market woman has become the topic of social media after a video surfaced showing her fervently imploring citizens to retain President John Mahama in office beyond his current term.

“I believe that, if not for political reasons, Ghanaians should enable Mahama to serve as president for an additional eight years when his current term finishes.

We shouldn’t vote him out. He has brought good things to Ghana, and the cost of goods are down,” she stated strongly in the now-viral video.

Her views come at a time when the Mahama government is being praised by some members of the public for stabilising the economy and restoring investor confidence.

Since returning to power in January 2025, President Mahama has supervised a significant appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi versus major international currencies, resulting in a visible decline in the cost of imported commodities.

Under his leadership, inflation rates have consistently dropped, providing relief to both traders and consumers.

Government attempts to boost local production, improve transportation infrastructure, and invest in agriculture have begun to have results, with many market women reporting better business conditions than in previous years.

While her request for Mahama to stay in power for another eight years has elicited varied reactions, it clearly demonstrates growing grassroots support for the President’s economic recovery initiatives.
