However, the Service denied these allegations, calling them “false and misleading,” in a statement signed by Deputy Director of Prisons Janet Asabea, Director of Public Affairs.

The statement claims that certain social media users are purposefully spreading the allegations in an effort to get followers by using dramatic headlines like “Breaking news from Nsawam.”

The Service emphasised that such fabrications are merely attempts to create needless tension and warned the public not to fall for them.

It said,

In order to create law-abiding individuals, the Service is dedicated to making sure that prisoners are held in safe custody and undergo reformation and rehabilitation.

The public was further reassured by the Ghana Prisons Service that no prisoner is given preferential treatment, highlighting the organization’s dedication to treating all inmates equally and professionally.
