The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a substantial reassignment of several Regional Health Directors as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery across the country.
These reassignments, which take effect on April 14, 2025, aim to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure that GHS objectives are met.
The following directors were reassigned:
Doctor Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng: He was previously the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) for the Upper East Region and will now be the Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED) at GHS headquarters.
Doctor Kennedy T.C. Brightson, formerly the Medical Superintendent at Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital, will become the Acting Director of Family Health at GHS headquarters.
Dr. Abdulai Abukari, previously the RDHS for the Northern Region, will now be the Director of Special Duties at GHS headquarters.
Dr. Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko, Mrs. She was previously the Director of GHS headquarters, PPMED, and will now serve as the Regional Director of Health Services for the Central Region.
Dr. Marian Okoh-Owusu: She was previously the Director of GHS headquarters’ Family Health Division (FHD) and will now serve as the Bono East Region’s Regional Director of Health Services.
Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, who previously served as the RDHS for the North East Region, will now be the RDHS for the Upper East Region.
Dr Damien Punguyire, previously the RDHS for the Upper West Region, will now be the RDHS for the Eastern Region.
Dr. Josephat Ana-Imwine Nyuzaghi**: Formerly the RDHS for the Savannah Region, he will now be the RDHS for the Upper West Region.
Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, previously the RDHS for the Ahafo Region, will now be the RDHS for the Volta Region.
Dr. Akosua A. Owusu-Sarpong (Mrs.): Formerly the RDHS for the Greater Accra Region, she will now be the RDHS for the Ahafo region.
Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, previously the RDHS for the Volta Region, will now be the RDHS for the Bono East Region.
Dr. Paulina Clara Appiah**: Formerly the RDHS for the Bono East Region, she will now be the RDHS for the Western North Region.
Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong, previously the RDHS for the Western North Region, will now be the RDHS for the Northern Region.
Dr. John Ekow Otoo, formerly the medical director of the Upper West Regional Hospital, will now be the RDHS for the North East Region.
Dr. Robert Amesiya, who was previously the RDHS for the Savannah Region, will now serve as Acting Regional Director for the Greater Accra Region.
