Sam Nartey George, a member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, expressed outrage at the information contained in the report Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng wrote about the work of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).

The respected heart surgeon’s standing, according to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, should persuade leadership to treat the 36-page report with more consideration.

Sam George said, “By now, this ought to have been referred to the Special Prosecutor.”

On Saturday, April 22, Sam George was speaking on TV3’s The Keypoints as the story was being discussed.

The report, which was decrypted by 3News.com, accuses both former and current government leaders of contributing to the country’s environmental destruction through illegal mining.

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, former Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Mafo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) attorney Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, former NPP lawmaker Joseph Albert Quarm, and Kwadwo Osei Afriyie, also known as Sir John, who passed away as the CEO of the Forestry Commission on July 1, 2020, are some of the government figures mentioned in the report.

The congressman from Ningo-Prampram expressed surprise that neither the President nor the Chief of Staff had phoned any of the people mentioned in the report.

Sam George claimed it was so damning that an NPP youth organizer who was panning for gold in the community wrecked even the President’s garden in Keybi, his hometown.
