Three former high-ranking Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) officials, including the immediate past Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, are being held by the Office of the Special Prosecutor as part of the ongoing investigation into the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal.

Dr. Isaac Crentsil and Christian Tetteh Sottie, both former revenue authority top officials, are also in custody.

According to a press release from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the arrests are related to ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and corruption-related offences involving contracts between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services.

The investigation also intends to validate SML’s assertions that its services have saved the country significant sums.

Their arrest comes as the controversial SML purchase is under increasing scrutiny, raising concerns about potential financial malfeasance and contract execution issues.
