The Electoral Commission has announced intentions to reprint ballots for the Berekum West and East constituencies in the Bono Region.

The Electoral Commission stated that this was necessary due to discovered inaccuracies in some presidential election ballots.

“The Electoral Commission discovered significant inconsistencies in some serial numbers on Presidential vote papers for the Berekum West and Berekum East Constituencies in the Bono Region. In Berekum West, the serial numbers on the ballots differ from those on the counterfoil.

It consists of seven (7) of the one hundred (100) booklets and one (I) of the twenty-five (25) booklets for the Presidential Ballot Papers,” according to a letter signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Operations, on November 28.

The letter to the presidential candidates stated that “Berekum East has inconsistent and duplicate serial numbers. This consists of three (3) of one hundred (100) booklets, one (1) of fifty (50) booklets, one (1) of twenty-five (25) booklets with serial numbers that do not follow consecutively, and two (2) of ten (10) booklets with identical serial numbers.

The Commission stated that it will “submit the above ballot papers to the Ghana Publishing Company (Assembly Press) for reprint.”
