EC to reprint ballot papers

The Electoral Commission (EC) said it would reprint all ballot papers in the Volta and Ahafo regions due to faulty serial numbers.

Samuel Tettey, EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, made the announcement during an emergency IPAC meeting on Friday, November 15.

He explained that the Commission had made substantial steps to remedy the matter, sending teams to the printing house to correct the errors.

He added that gaps still exist, leading the EC to reissue the papers for the Ahafo and Volta areas.

Mr Tettey went on to say that the EC has decided to have both the presidential and parliamentary ballot papers for the two areas printed by Buck Press and Acts Commercial.

“We wish to inform you that we will share the printing timetable with you by the close of today,” according to him.

He also stated that plans for disposing of the damaged votes will be communicated with stakeholders and political parties, and that a certificate of destruction will be signed by all parties present during the procedure, with copies distributed to each party.
