The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a rerun of the Council of State elections for the North east and Ashanti regions for Monday, February 17, 2025.
According to the Commission, the decision to rerun the poll in the North East Region was based on a tie between two candidates who each received six votes.
For the Ashanti Region, the EC indicated that the rerun was prompted by the disorder that disrupted the ballot counting process, leaving the process incomplete.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 12, the EC acknowledged that it had written to the Ghana Police Service and copied the National Voting Security Taskforce to improve security at the voting venues to avoid disruptions.
